YouTube Premium

YouTube, owned by Google, is the worldwide known video-sharing platform, and in Thailand is one of the most visited web and app. Following other countries, YouTube has just launched also in Thailand YouTube Premium.

Surely you know what is the main source of monetization for the platform: advertising. Those “interruptions”, even if sometimes useful, that might annoy the users. Now, it is possible to enjoy YouTube with an ad-free interface and more premium features.

Using YouTube Premium, what the benefits?

1. Ad-free: streaming experience on all videos and music uninterrupted by ads

2. Downloads: save videos and playlists on mobile for offline viewing (up for 30 days)

3. Background Play: keep videos playing when using others apps or when the screen is locked.

Right now, new users can get 1 month free trial and starting price 129 THB/month for YouTube Music, and 159 THB/month for YouTube Premium. Like Spotify and Netflix, you can save money with family membership. One more offer is dedicated for students who can have monthly plan starting only from 65 THB/month. But – in the moment I am writing this article – this plan not available yet, but it will be arrive soon.

So, marketers and creators, be aware. If YouTube Premium will boom, it may be harder to create targeting video campaigns, but new opportunities may arise, like strengthen collaborations with YouTube Creators and publishers.

Anyway, I am quite sure hat the arrival of YouTube Premium is a big turn point into the advertising industry in Thailand.
